Forex has Decided to help by donating money directly to the relief efforts of Gawad Kalinga

Forex has decided to help by donating money directly to the relief efforts of Gawad Kalinga and encourages others to send money instead of goods.   If you visit http://www.gk1world.com/,  they have constant updates on their relief efforts so you can see something is being done.   GK needs funds to transport water, food, and goods to the victims.   Shipping goods from the USA will take too long to reach the beneficiaries. The need is immediate. Because of this, we will only accept remittances to the bank accounts of GK and other organizations.

For more information please contact any of our Forex Offices.

Hallelujah, our Tacloban representative, has finally contacted us and his family is safe and sound.  He had to walk 4 hours just to find a place where he could contact us.  Our Tacloban warehouse was totally wiped out but thankfully, there were no more boxes there.  The truck that was on its way to Tacloban is also secure.

We need your financial help badly as he has been totally wiped out.

Community Turns Plastic into Livelihood

COLLECTING plastic trash helps unit a community in Mandaue City and provides steady employment and income. Thirty-eight year old Elena Gumandoy said the “plastic to pillow” livelihood project in Brgy. Canduman, Mandaue City helped augment her family’s income. Aside from the sale of their ukay-ukay (used clothing) business, pillows made from shredded plastics give her family extra income to send her three kids to school. Her husband, Benny, who is skilled in sewing, trains women at the Kobe housing to learn the skill. Prior to creating... more »

Ukay-ukay, imported surplus: The skirt of globalization

THE fashion has turned into a frenzy when a huge monster ball of bacteria-loaded importation in the name of consumerism fired up the cheap finds in the hope of finding originals and signature clothes in this haven we call ukay-ukay. Let us shop more ideas and have a conversation. Bear with my rhetoric that keeps me sane in this intellectual intercourse. I am a recycling artists and I am pro ukay-ukay which has consolidated many of our dream shopping spree. This trend has also made me question my lifestyle in general. This has become a life-changing cycle of local culture that has a cheaper advantage to the... more »
